Supporters of the Peruvian political party Together for Peru (Juntos por el Perú) marched through downtown Lima on Saturday, demanding transparency in the vote count and respect for the popular will expressed in the recent presidential runoff, as allegations of irregularities continued to mount.
Demonstrators from various regions gathered outside the National Electoral Jury, which was protected by a heavy police presence, and called for the annulment of some 2,700 polling stations in the United States, Argentina, and Peru.

The National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) finished processing all pending tally sheets on Friday, with a difference of roughly 18,000 votes between the two candidates. However, the ONPE clarified that no winner can be declared until the Special Electoral Jury reviews the remaining tally sheets, a process that can involve ballot‑by‑ballot verification and delay the final result.
On Friday, right‑wing candidate Keiko Fujimori rejected a proposal from left‑wing candidate Roberto Sánchez for a total recount of the runoff votes. Sánchez had proposed a joint request to electoral authorities for an exhaustive review to guarantee transparency and political stability.
Sánchez also accused Fujimori’s party, Popular Force (Fuerza Popular), of seeking to annul votes from southern regions.
As of Saturday night, with 98.435% of votes counted, the ONPE website showed Fujimori leading with 9,072,289 votes (50.051%) and Sánchez trailing with 9,053,801 votes (49.949%). Of the 92,766 total tally sheets, 91,423 have been counted, and 1,343 remain under review by the Special Electoral Jury as either observed or challenged due to errors or claims from both parties.
